simple solutions:
1. One of the most important things you can do is be sure your fridge & all major appliances have the EPA energy star label and use 450 kilowatt hours or less per year.
2. Check that your water heater is well insulated & make sure the pilot light isn’t blocked.
3. Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs.
4. Use power strips to stop leaking electricity.
5. Turn off lights when not in the room. (a no-brainer oder?!)
6. Unplug before going on vacation (40 watts leak every hour by TV & cable boxes, even when turned off)
7. Plant trees!!! Businesses worldwide use over 15 million miles of paper every day. That is A LOT of paper. Use less!!!
8. Fly less. Trade your car in for a bike. Take the train and slow down.
9. Checkout the carbon offset worksheet on www.plant-trees.org. Every 1,000 miles you fly = 500 lbs of CO2-plant 10 trees!
